MA students - stop by the library to check out the most current issue of CMA Today, the magazine dedicated to assisting Medical Assistants in enhancing their knowledge and skills.
The article titled "Stand Out From the Crowd: Catch Employers' Eyes and Land a Great Job" is full of tips and techniques on applications, interviews, and how to job hunt on the Internet (even on Facebook).
Consider these 4 tips:
1. Get specific - list skills from your coursework, your externship, or other training
2. Emphasize experience - play up any customer service or health care experience
3. Do the research - tailor your resume to potential employers' mission statements (check their websites first!)
4. Consider volunteering - especially at nursing homes or physicians' practices. You'll build your resume, learn valuable skills, AND make contacts for networking.
